At Data Glue we can deliver space satellite payloads into our data analytics platform in micro-seconds via any one of our seven ground stations.
The Earth Observations (EO) are obtained from space satellites for immediate analysis. The payload, once ingested, is processed to generate NASA Level 0, Level 1, and Level 2 data types.
In this blog we explain the process we use to capture, deliver, and process EO.
In a future subsequent blog post we expect to explain the steps to creating Level 3 and Level 4 NASA data from the work done herein.

To accomplish near real-time data capture from space satellites we complete the following steps:
-
1. Satellite Selection - first we select the satellite: we currently serve AQUA, TERRA, JPSS-1, and SUOMI space satellites; and a series of proprietary cubesats in LEO
2. Mission Profile - we then define a mission profile to select which ground station to use and configure contact times with their respective parameters
3. Payload Delivery - once the satellite comes into contact with the ground station, we then initialize the transfer of VITA 49 data packets
4. Level 0 - after all .pcap files have been received, the payload is processed using an RT-STPS instance that combines the .raw files into Level 0 data
5. Level 1A and 1B - the Level 0 data is then processed using IPOPP to create georeferenced and adjusted Level 1A and Level 1B data
6. Level 2 - the Level 1A and 1B data is enriched with other data instruments to yield derived geophysical variables
7. Processed Data Delivery - all data is then delivered instantly for consumers to use in subsequent analytical systems
At Data Glue we use the world’s most advanced cloud technology to ingest data from space satellites with predictable costs, quality, and superior technical knowledge. We have experienced solutions architects and engineers ready to tackle your most complex space data pain points.

Its incredible how we can now connect to satellites and process the data so fast. It took NASA hours, days, and at times weeks, what we now do in a second with automated systems. Wow.
